Frequency converter is a power control equipment that uses frequency conversion technology and microelectronics technology to control AC motor by changing the working power frequency of the motor. The converter is mainly composed of rectifier (AC to DC), filter, inverter (DC to AC), brake unit, drive unit, detection unit and micro-processing unit.
The heat dissipation of the inverter is divided into the following types: natural heat dissipation, forced air cooling, water cooling.
Natural heat dissipation: For small capacity frequency converters, natural heat dissipation is generally selected, and the use environment should be well-ventilated, without adhesion dust or floating matter.
The drag objects of this kind of inverter are mostly household air conditioners, CNC machine tools, etc. - the power is very small.
Forced air cooling: Forced air cooling is a commonly used method of heat dissipation. The heat dissipation area is required to be as large as possible within the allowed range, with the heat fin spacing to be smaller for better heat dissipation efficiency. The cost of forced air cooling is not too high, and the capacity of the inverter can be from tens to hundreds of kVA, or even higher.
Water cooling: A common way of industrial cooling. But it is rarely used for heat dissipation in frequency converters, because of its high cost and large volume. As the capacity of the general frequency converter is from several kVA to nearly 100 kVA - not very large, it is difficult to make the cost performance acceptable to most clients, only in special occasions (such as explosion-proof) and the frequency converter with a particularly large capacity is used in this way.
